Volunteer Law Intern Program

ATF participates in the Department of Justice (DOJ) Volunteer Law Intern Program (VLIP), which offers unpaid volunteer law internship opportunities in Washington, D.C. VLIP is a competitive opportunity available for law students who are graduating or applying for their second year of law school.

Students may earn academic credit for these voluntary positions. Interested candidates are encouraged to verify academic credit requirements and policies with their respective law schools.

Application Deadline

Applications generally open in late July and are due in early September for the following summer. More details and the current VLIP deadlines can be found on Justice.gov.
