Jesse Nguyen is an industry operations investigator (IOI) with ATF, responsible for conducting inspections and investigations of firearms and explosives licensees to ensure they follow federal regulations. During Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Nguyen encourages everyone to remember that a diverse and inclusive workplace is one that makes everyone feel equally involved and supported in all aspects of the mission. One of ATF’s superpowers is recognizing employee contributions, big and small.
One of Nguyen’s favorite traditions is celebrating the Lunar New Year. During this special time of year, his family hosts special celebrations. They also hand out lucky red envelopes filled with money to friends and family, which symbolizes good wishes and luck for the new year ahead.
He sees the IOI career path as a great way to build a strong federal government career and often participates in collaborate projects. Nguyen appreciates the professional development opportunities that a small agency like ATF provides and enjoys the family-like environment. Nguyen also believes that it is important to build and mold emerging leaders to take on new, global challenges.
This includes creating a workplace community built on a strong foundation that will help prepare future leaders to achieve professional success.
