Reward for Information on Deadly Fire in Lexington
Suspicious Fire Claims the Life of a Lexington Firefighter
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives today announced a reward of up to $2,500 for information on a fire that claimed the life of a Lexington firefighter.
On March 26, the Lexington Fire Department responded to a fire at a vacant house on 306 W. 5th St. While battling the fire, Fire Captain Ronnie Metcalf with the Lexington Fire Department sustained severe injuries and was airlifted to a regional burn center. Captain Metcalf lost his life as a result of those injuries several days later. Investigators believe the fire was intentionally set.
ATF is working with the Lexington Fire Department and the Lexington Police Department on this ongoing investigation.
