The Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 requires agencies to publish proposed information collections in the Federal Register for public comment before an agency can use the process (generally a form) to collect information from the public. The proposed information collection was previously published in the Federal Register on March 14, 2017. As required by the Paperwork Reduction Act, this notice provides 30 days for public comment on the extension of an existing collection. The proposed information collection pertains to ATF Form 5400.29, Application for Restoration of Explosives Privileges, which is used by ATF to conduct background investigations on all applicants for restoration of explosives privileges.
