Action:
Paperwork Reduction Act Notice on Extension of an Existing Information Collection
Purpose:
The Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 requires agencies to publish proposed information collections in the Federal Register for public comment before an agency can use the process (generally a form) to collect information from the public. As required by the Paperwork Reduction Act, this notice provides 60 days for public comment on the proposed extension of an existing collection. The information collection is for records of imported items that are on the United States Munitions Import List. The importers must register with ATF and must file an intent to import specific items as well as certify to ATF that the items were in fact received. The records are maintained at the registrant’s business premises where they are available for inspection by ATF officers during compliance inspections or criminal investigations.
