Action:
Paperwork Reduction Act Notice on Extension of an Existing Information Collection
Purpose:
The Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 requires agencies to publish proposed information collections in the Federal Register for public comment before an agency can use the process (generally a form) to collect information from the public. As required by the Paperwork Reduction Act, this notice provides 60 days for public comment on the proposed extension of the existing form. The proposed information collection pertains to the ATF Form 5400.29 which is required to be submitted by an applicant in order to determine whether or not explosives privileges may be restored. The form is used to conduct an investigation to establish if it is likely that the applicant will act in a manner dangerous to public safety or contrary to public interest.
