The Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 requires agencies to publish proposed information collections in the Federal Register for public comment before an agency can use the process (generally a form) to collect information from the public. The proposed information collection was previously published in the Federal Register on January 11, 2016. As required by the Paperwork Reduction Act, this notice provides 30 days for public comment on the extension of an existing collection. The proposed information collection pertains to the application for restoration of firearms privileges. Under Federal law, individuals prohibited from purchasing, possessing, receiving or transporting firearms are permitted to apply for restoration of their firearms privileges.
