Action:
Paperwork Reduction Act Notice on Extension of an Existing Information Collection
Purpose:
The Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 requires agencies to publish proposed information collections in the Federal Register for public comment before an agency can use the process (generally a form) to collect information from the public. As required by the Paperwork Reduction Act, this notice provides 60 days for public comment on the proposed extension of the existing collection. The proposed information collection pertains to information requested on a form submitted to ATF to determine whether the person who provided the information is qualified to be an employee possessor in an explosive business. Each employee possessor in the explosives business or operations required to ship, transport, receive, or possess (actual or constructive), explosive materials must submit this form and successfully pass a background check, which is facilitated by the personally identifiable information collected on this form.
