Action:
Paperwork Reduction Act Notice on Extension of an Existing Information Collection
Purpose:
The Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 requires agencies to publish proposed information collections in the Federal Register for public comment before an agency can use the process (generally a form) to collect information from the public. This proposed information collection was previously published in the Federal Register Aug. 21, 2014. Consistent with the Paperwork Reduction Act, this notice provides an additional 30 days for additional public comment on the forms. The proposed information collection pertains to the records that show daily activities in the importation, manufacture, receipt, storage, and disposition of all explosive materials covered under 18 U.S.C. Chapter 40. The records are used to show where and to whom explosive materials are sent, thereby ensuring any diversions will be readily apparent. In addition, this ensures any lost or stolen explosive materials will be detected and ATF will be immediately notified.
