Action:
Paperwork Reduction Act Notice on Extension of an Existing Information Collection
Purpose:
The Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 requires agencies to publish proposed information collections in the Federal Register for public comment before an agency can use the process (generally a form) to collect information from the public. As required by the Paperwork Reduction Act, this notice provides 60 days for public comment on the proposed extension of the existing collection. The proposed information collection pertains to the records that show daily activities in the importation, manufacture, receipt, storage, and disposition of all explosive materials covered under 18 U.S.C. Chapter 40. The records are used to show where and to whom explosive materials are sent, thereby ensuring that any diversions will be readily apparent and if lost or stolen, ATF will be immediately notified.
