Application for National Firearms Examiner Academy (OMB Number 1140–0049)

Action:
Paperwork Reduction Act Notice on Extension of an Information Collection
Purpose:
The Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 requires agencies to publish proposed information collections in the Federal Register for public comment before an agency can use the process (generally a form) to collect information from the public. This proposed information collection (form) was initially published in the Federal Register April 11, 2014 (79 FR 20234), allowing for a 60 day comment period. As required by the Paperwork Reduction Act, and with the initial public comment period completed, this notice provides an additional 30 days for public comment on the collection as the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) considers the agency’s information collection request. The proposed information collection pertains to the form that must be completed and submitted to ATF by prospective students to attend the ATF National Firearms Examiner Academy and to acquire firearms and toolmark examiner training. This information is also used to determine the eligibility of the applicant. ATF F 6330.1
