Paperwork Reduction Act Notice on Extension of an Information Collection
Purpose:
The Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 requires agencies to publish proposed information collections in the Federal Register for public comment before an agency can use the process (generally a form) to collect information from the public. This proposed information collection (forms) was previously published in the Federal Register April 3, 2014 (79 FR 18698), allowing for a 60 day comment period. Consistent with the Paperwork Reduction Act, this notice provides an additional 30 days for additional public comment on the forms. The proposed information collection pertains to forms that must be completed and submitted to ATF by all persons intending to engage in the business of manufacturing, dealing, importing or using explosive materials. The applications are processed by the ATF Federal Explosives Licensing Center and upon approval, the applicant shall receive their explosives license or permit within a ninety-day timeframe.
