Merrillville Police Department and ATF Offers Reward in Homicide Investigation

Law Enforcement Seeking Public’s Help in the Homicide Investigation of Jerimiah Simon.

CHICAGO (IL) — The Merrillville Indiana Police Department (MPD) and The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Chicago Field Division announced a joint reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the death of Mr. Jeremiah Simon. Mr. Simon was shot and killed on January 15, 2020 as he was walking in the 500 block of East 54th Ct. in Merrillville, Indiana. Mr. Simon was 18 years old at the time of his death.

On January 17, 2020, MPD offered a five thousand dollar ($5,000.00) reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the murder suspect(s). In addition to offering investigative resources, today ATF is matching the MPD five thousand dollar ($5,000.00) reward, bringing the total reward to ten thousand dollars ($10,000).

“The ATF and the Merrillville Police Department are two agencies committed to public safety and addressing violent crime. With the help of the public, and by combining investigative resources, we hope to further this investigation and bring those who had a hand in the murder of Mr. Simon to justice. ”said Special Agent in Charge Tim Jones, ATF Chicago Field Division.
