ATF Seeking to Identify Individuals in Suspected Arson
CHICAGO — The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) seeks the public’s help identifying two individuals shown in surveillance photographs and video who are suspects in an arson that was committed at Super Giant Grocery at 5147 West Division in Chicago, Illinois, on May 31, 2018, at approximately 10:00 p.m.
ATF is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for the positive identification of each suspect depicted in the video, totaling $10,000 if both individuals are positively identified. ATF is working collaboratively on the investigation with the Chicago Police Department, Chicago Fire Department and the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois.
The surveillance photos and video from May 31, 2018, depicts two individuals entering the scene of the fire at the Super Giant Grocery. People with information regarding the identity and/or whereabouts of these individuals are urged to contact ATF at 1-888-ATF-TIPS (283-8477), ATFTips@atf.gov, or submit an anonymous tip through the “ReportIt” app, available on Google Play and the Apple App Store. When reporting, be sure to include as many details as possible and contact information for potential follow up if a reward is sought.
“Arson is a very serious crime as it is a danger to the whole community,” said ATF Special Agent in Charge Tim Jones of the Chicago Field Division. “We are dedicated to working closely with our CPD partners to find these individuals. Arson charges can result in up to 40 years in federal prison, and are charges we do not take lightly.”
