ATF Offers $5K Reward for Information in Manassas Shooting During a Community Event
Total Possible Reward up to $6K
MANASSAS, Va. — The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Washington Field Division announced a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the individual responsible for shooting two men at a community event.
This is in addition to a reward of up to $1,000 offered by the Prince William County Police Department, who is the lead investigating agency in this case, bringing the total to a possible reward up to $6,000.
On May 1, PWC officers responded to Benton Middle School located at 7411 Hoadly Rd. in Manassas to investigate a call for shots fired. Upon arrival, officers observed a large number of people fleeing the area before locating a 24-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. The initial investigation revealed that during a community event at the outdoor athletic field, two men were engaged in a verbal altercation with an acquaintance, identified as Isaiah Malik Gordon, 23, of Dumfries, Va. Gordon is described as a black male, with a medium complexion, approximately 5’7”, 120lbs., with black hair and brown eyes.
During the encounter, the altercation escalated, and Gordon retrieved a firearm from his person and fired multiple rounds towards the men, striking both men. One of the men struck was identified as 24-year-old man whom officers located upon arrival at the school. The second man, identified as a 33-year-old, was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries prior to police arriving in the at the school.
“The use of illegal firearms is never acceptable in our communities, but this act of violence is beyond unacceptable. Our community spaces where children play and families go to enjoy themselves should be the last place community members fear visiting. We are in lockstep with our partners as we work cohesively throughout this investigation.,” said ATF Washington Field Division Special Agent in Charge Charlie J. Patterson. “It is our job to maintain public safety within our communities. We will continue to uphold this mission as we collaborate with our local, state and federal partners to disrupt the cycle of criminal acquisition and the misuse of firearms within our communities. We continue to call upon our community members to provide any information that will assist us in locating and holding all involved accountable.”
