ATF, NSSF Offer 10K Reward in Middletown Gun Store Burglary
ATF, Frederick County Sheriff’s Office and the firearms industry seek public’s help in firearms theft from Middletown Firearms FFL
MIDDLETOWN, Va. — The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is offering up to $5,000 in conjunction with National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the trade association for the firearms industry, who is also offering up to $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction for those responsible for the theft of firearms from Middletown Firearms, a federal firearm licensee.
Middletown Firearms FFL, 7609 Main Street, Middletown, Virginia, was burglarized October 28 at 3:40 a.m. ET. Review of surveillance video showed three unknown suspects enter the FFL and steal approximately 17 firearms as a fourth subject acted as a lookout. The suspects then escaped in a silver sedan. ATF Industry Operations Investigators responded to the FFL and are in the process of conducting an inventory to determine the exact number of firearms stolen.

ATF is offering a reward for the amount of up to $5,000, which will be matched by the NSSF for a total reward of up to $10,000. This reward is part of a larger national cooperative initiative between the NSSF and ATF in which NSSF matches ATF’s reward in cases involving the theft of firearms from federally licensed firearms retailers.
“ATF works closely with local law enforcement partners and members of the firearms industry to curb the criminal acquisition and misuse of firearms,” said ATF Acting Special Agent in Charge James VanVliet. “We will bring all of our Crime Gun Intelligence resources to bear and leverage investigative resources combined with community partnerships to recover the stolen firearms.”
