ATF Search Enhanced Evidence K-9 (S.E.E.K.) Wes is assigned to the Seattle Field Division with Special Agent K-9 Handler Cliff Sutton. Wes began puppy training in a New York prison as part of the Puppies Behind Bars (PBB) program and started his career as an ATF Explosives Detection Canine (EDC) in January of 2021. Wes has two brothers who are EDC K-9s in North Carolina. Wes is certified by the ATF to detect 19,000 different combinations of military, commercial, and/or homemade explosives, firearms, ammunition, spent shell casings and post-blast debris. As a S.E.E.K. trained K-9, Wes can be deployed off leash to targets over 100 yards away. Wes and Special Agent Sutton support ATF’s mission of protecting the public by combating violent crime, assisting Federal, State, and local law enforcement agencies across the United States in the detection of explosives and firearm related evidence.
In his off-time, Wes loves taking a dive into the waters of the Great Pacific Northwest which includes the many rivers, oceans, and lakes. Wes loves new toys, a good game of tug of war, and is always up for an adventure.
