Welcome to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Denver, Colorado Field Division Internet site. I hope you will find the information provided here to be informative and useful.
The ATF Denver Field Division services the States of Colorado, Utah, Wyoming and Montana extending north to the Canadian border. Our dedicated work force is comprised of special agents, explosives enforcement officers, investigators, auditors, technicians, support staff, and our explosives detection canine Osterman.
The Field Division is one of twenty five (25) that provide a wide array of law enforcement services and firearms and explosives regulation. We are responsible for enforcing the Federal Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, Explosives, and Arson laws, along with the firearms and explosives regulations.
The Division is on the front-line of combating violent crime in an effort to improve our quality of life within the communities that we so proudly serve. The “Big 5” issues for ATF are: firearms trafficking, gang violence, bombings and explosives, tobacco diversion, and our in-house technology modernization of the National Firearms Tracing Center and the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN).

ATF, FBI and Glendale Police Department Arrest Walter Bond for Sheepskin Factory Arson
July 23, 2010
Walter Bond, age 34, was arrested last night by Special Agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), for the April 30, 2010 arson of the Sheepskin Factory in Glendale, Colorado, United States Attorney David Gaouette, ATF Special Agent in Charge Marvin Richardson, FBI Special Agent in Charge James Davis, and Glendale Police Chief Victor Ross announced. Bond, who is charged with one count of arson of property affecting interstate commerce, is scheduled to make an initial appearance in U.S. District Court in Denver at 2:00 p.m. this afternoon, where he will be advised of the charges pending against him, and the related penalties for that crime. Eleven Metro Denver Men Indicted for Gun Crimes as Part of “Cripland” Investigation

The ATF led Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN) Task Force arrested eight people on charges of gun and drug trafficking crimes in early morning raids yesterday, United States Attorney David Gaouette and ATF Special Agent in Charge Marvin Richardson announced. The arrests are the second phase of a one and one half year investigation named “Operation Cripland.” Nine additional defendants were arrested in October of 2009 in phase one of this investigation. Richardson, and Denver Police Chief Gerald Whitman announced the indictment of Andrew Thomas Gunzner, age 21, of Littleton, Colo., for possession of stolen machine guns and destructive devices. Lovell, Zollie Louis Byrd, a 55-year-old resident of South Carolina, who was a prior convicted felon and fugitive from justice, was sentenced to 68 months confinement for the illegal possession of a machine gun. Denver, Colo. Explosives Detection Canine Helps Miami Prepare for Super Bowl XLIV

Not everyone participating in this year’s Super Bowl is a football player. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives (ATF) have fielded their best players to help prepare for a safe and secure Super Bowl XLIV. These pros include ATF K-9 explosives detection teams that have been deployed to Miami from around the country.
